Public Transport

Amsterdam has excellent public transport and many of the major attractions are in walking distance of central station. There's plenty of buses but most visitors take the tram, it's a fun way to get around the city and see the sights, it's also fast and relativley cheap.

OV chipcard

The OV chipcard is the main ticket used on public transport in the Netherlands. You can use it on trains, trams, buses and the metro.

 

Trams

Amsterdam is one of the few Dutch cities, where you can get about easily and efficiently by tram.

 

Buses


Buses are useful if you're travelling longer distances. The main bus station is close to Amsterdam's Central Station. For more information on transport go to www.9292ov.nl.

 

Taxis

 

There's plenty of taxi services in the city. One of the most reliable is TCA (Taxi Amsterdam). Phone +31 (0) 20 7777 777. Whatch out for touds, only use licensed taxi's (to be recognized by blue car number plates)
