Transfers
All five airports have excellent connections to central London. However, depending on the time you land at Stansted or Luton Airport you may find there are no trains, which means relying on the bus or taxi. Generally there's regular trains which run every 10-15 minutes. Each airport's transfers are different in terms of price and serivce. There's more information below.

Transfer from London City Airport
You can take a taxi but it is cheaper to use public transport from the airport. Take the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) to Bank underground station.

DLR runs every 10 minutes to Bank underground station. Total travel time is approximately 22 minutes. DLR runs daily from 5.30 (from Bank) and 5.28 pm (from City Airport to 0.20 pm) An Oyster Card is the cheapest way to travel (see information at Oyster public transport ). |
Transfer from London Heathrow Airport
London Heathrow has excellent tube, train or bus connections. The options differ significantly in terms of comfort, travel time and cost.

The cheapest way to get from Heathrow Airport to London is by tube (London Underground). Take the Piccadiliy line. There are three tube stations at terminals 1,2,3 and two separate stations for terminals 4 and 5. The journey by underground to central London (center) takes about 45 minutes. The Piccadilly line runs daily from 5.00am to 11.40pm. USEFUL: For cheaper travel costs buy an Oyster Card in advance. These can be ordered here. |

From Heathrow take the Heathrow Express to central London, it's fast and comfortable. The journey is just 15 to 20 minutes to London Paddington station. From here you can travel by bus, taxi or underground (Hammersmith & City, Central, Circle and District lines). The Heathrow Express runs between 5.28am and 11.41pm from Heathrow and between 5.10am and 11.25pm from Paddington station. Get your Heathrow Express ticket in advance online. |

A cheaper alternative to the rather expensive Heathrow Express is the Heathrow Connect. This modern, comfortable train is just as quick (25 minutes) to Paddington Station, but almost half the price. Heathrow Connect stops at stations en route including Hayes & Harlington, Southall, Hanwell, West Ealing, Ealing Broadway and Paddington. It leaves from terminal 1,2,3 and 4 and runs between 5.05am and 11.40pm from Heathrow and between 4.42am and 11.03pm from Paddington. |
Taxi
The taxi is an expensive alternative. A single journey into central London will easily cost you £60 pounds and is often slower than the efficient train and tube.

You can take several buses and train services to central London (Victoria Station).

London Gatwick Airport has a very good train services to Victoria Station in central London. The fastest train to London is the Gatwick Express. The Gatwick Express takes you to Victoria Station where you'll find connections with the Circle, District and Victoria lines. First Capital Connect goes to London Bridge, Blackfriars, City Thameslink, Farringdon and St Pancras stations. The ticket is about half the cost of travelling on the Gatwick Express. Taxi
Taking a taxi is an expensive alternative. A single journey into central London will quickly clok up £50 pounds on the meter. It's also slower than the more efficient train and bus.

There is a train service from Luton Airport to London St. Pancrass station. Buy your tickets in advance!

Transfer from Stansted Airport
Despite the great distance between this airport and the city of London, there are good transfer options. However, if your flight leaves before 7.00am plan carefully as there are few early connections. London Stansted Airport has a very good train to Liverpool Street station in central London. A cheaper but time consuming option is the bus.
